The chicken tikka masala at a restaurant may or may not be low carb and/or grain-free. It depends on the specific recipe. We can be sure that the rice it is served with is definitely not low-carb or grain free! When eating this dish at a restaurant, I usually eat it without the rice.
It is a similar fusion of Persian and Indian culinary styles that sets Moghul cooking apart from other Indian cuisines. Moghlai food is food for kings and queens, courtiers and nobility, and also for modern-day food enthusiasts.
To start with, soak cashewnuts in hot water for 10 minutes. Also rub turmeric powder all over the chicken. Set both things aside. Heat a tablespoon of ghee in a pan, and add the onions. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon salt over the onions and mix. Reduce the flame, cover and cook the onions till they are deep brown in color.
