You don’t have to use lard to make soap. Many people just use plant oils like olive, castor, coconut, almond, etc. You should look up some of those articles she mentions, they’re good resources. Every type of oil reacts differently to the lye. Always use a lye calculator, to make sure you have enough oil to lye ratio.
