What Are Dry Rub Smoked Ribs? Dry rub smoked ribs are a classic BBQ (or barbecue) food consisting of ribs that you cover in a spice rub and cook slowly in a smoker until they are tender. A dry rub might contain numerous spices and flavorings, such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, oregano, and others.
Mix the Low Carb Rib Rub together in a small bowl and set aside. Turn them over and slice gashes in the membrane of the back of the racks to allow the rib rub to penetrate better. Massage the entire batch of Low Carb Rib Rub into the ribs, covering the front, backs and edges. Lay on the baking sheets and bake for 4-5 hours.
The ingredients in this recipe are sweetener, kosher salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, turmeric, and chili powder. If you want the dry rub on the spicy side, you can kick it up with some ground cayenne pepper. For the sweetener, I used a sugar free sweetener to keep this BBQ rib rub keto.
Start by mixing up the Low Carb Rib Rub in a small bowl, then cut the ribs into sections that will fit well in the slow cooker. Turn them over and slice gashes in the membrane of the back of the racks to allow the rib rub to penetrate better. Cover the front, back and edges of the ribs with the rub, using the entire batch.
