When you are ready to eat your poha, simply rinse your flattened rice and soften them. Add them to the tempering and mix. Steam them on a low heat. Your poha will be ready in no time. Dadpe pohe is made with much the same ingredients as kanda poha except for an additional ingredient, coconut.
Another simple Maharashtrian recipe using poha is dadpe pohe which is made by mixing raw poha with onions, grated coconut, chillies, peanuts and is allowed to rest for few minutes by placing a plate and weight on the poha. This method is called dadapne which is where the dish gets its name from.
In a mixing bowl, add sugar, salt, and Lime juice to poha and mix it nicely. Leave it aside for a few minutes Then add in chopped onions, coconut, coriander, roasted peanuts to the poha mixture and set it aside for another few minutes. Take coconut water and sprinkle it onto the poha mix.
In a large bowl take the onion, coconut, lemon juice, sugar and salt. Mix well making sure everything is well combined. Add the poha and mix well. Rest for 10 minutes making sure poha absorbs moisture and turns soft. Meanwhile, in a pan heat oil in a pan and fry the peanuts in it until they turn crunchy.
