Charoset is very simple to prepare! You’ll need apples (I like to use a variety,) walnuts, honey, spices, wine and brown sugar to make it sweeter if desired. I’ve been the “charoset maker” for our family Passover Seders for over 15 years! (Ha! I never saw that one coming) This is my go-to recipe because everyone loves it.
The charoset can be made up to 3 days before serving and can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator. We love making it early and letting it soak up all the added flavor. This also reduces the strong wine flavor that you’ll notice when you make it initially. You can use grape juice if you don’t want to use a sweet wine!
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Charoset can be made with a wide variety of fruit and nut combinations. The apricots and pistachios in this charoset recipe complement each other beautifully. 1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
In this recipe (and in many American households) the key to a good charoset is using sweet, Kosher wine like Manischewitz. The taste borders on grape juice and lends a ton of flavor and sweetness to balance out the tart apples. Storage. Charoset can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
