Frequently Asked Questions

Do i need eucalyptus and chamomile essential oils to make this salve?

If you are using this salve for adults, you can add some eucalyptus and/or chamomile essential oils to boost the effectiveness, but they really aren’t necessary in my opinion. I think this recipe works very well as-is. Combine 2 ounces of eucalyptus leaves and 2 ounces of chamomile flowers in a large mason jar.

How do i make my herbal salve more creamy?

Place your herbal salves in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to determine the solidification of the salve. Using less beeswax will yield a more creamy salve, and more generous usage will yield a harder salve.

Can i use chamomile powder instead of the herb?

Yes, chamomile powder will work fine. It’s probably more concentrated than the herb, so start with half as much and see what you think. If you want more you can add from there. Megan Howellsays
