In a large greased pan over medium-high heat, brown both sides of the steak patties. Remove Salisbury steak from the pan and place in an oven-safe casserole pan. Add in butter to pan along with onions, mushrooms, and thyme. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until onions have softened. Add onion mixture to cover the steak patties.
