Total Time: 35 minsCategory: DinnerCalories: 492 per serving1. In a fondue pot, add your garlic clove and white wine. Put on medium heat until the wine is simmering.
2. Slowly add a bit of the cheeses into the wine while mixing with a silicone spatula. Make sure you only add a bit at a time and only add more cheese once the previous cheese has melted.
3. Once all of the cheese has been added, you'll notice that the cheese and alcohol won't mix together. Add 1 tsp of xanthan gum and always continue whisking. The cheese fondue should slowly start to thicken and the alcohol and cheese will slowly mix together. If it still hasn't mixed together, just add 1/4 tsp of xanthan gum more at a time until it does. Personally I used 1.5 tsp and it was the perfect consistency.
4. Once the fondue is all mixed together, turn the heat to low and start dipping your ingredients inside the yummy cheese!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make a cheese fondue?

For the sauce, heat the wine and lemon juice on medium low heat in a pot. Once the wine begins to simmer, slowly whisk in and melt small handfuls of the cheese at a time until it is all incorporated and whisked until smooth and creamy. Place in a serving bowl or fondue pot. To reheat, heat on half power for 30 seconds and stir.

Can you make cheese fondue without alcohol?

Most fondue recipes call for alcohol or beer of some sort, which is kind of a bummer if you are making cheese fondue for kids or someone who does not consume alcohol. This version, on the other hand, is 100% alcohol-free! It was hard to find another recipe I liked without alcohol, so I decided to make my own.

Is cheese fondue keto friendly?

This easy keto friendly cheese fondue is a fun party appetizer or main dish meal idea for a special occasion. What I like about this sauce is that it’s only a handful of ingredients and can also be made ahead of time if needed.

What can i substitute for swiss cheese in cheese fondue?

If we are feeling a little bit fancy, we will replace the Swiss with Emmentaler or Gruyere cheese. If you want a slightly Mexican spin, you can use a fiesta blend or just add a little Monterey Jack. This cheese fondue recipe is so versatile – you can use all kind of different cheeses and it will still be delicious!
