Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make a kahlua cake?

Bring sugar, water, and espresso powder to a boil in a small pot over med-high heat. Simmer for 1min. Remove from heat and stir in Kahlua. Set aside to cool. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour three 6″ cake rounds and line with parchment. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

How to make low carb kahlua?

Add the vodka, homemade Low-Carb Kahlua and mix. Pour a splash of cream over the top and swirl to combine. Prepare all the ingredients for the low-carb kahlua. Start with the coffee. The better the coffee, the better the end result.

What is kahlua liqueur?

Kahlua is a popular liqueur that contains rum, sugar, and coffee. When paired with our rich chocolate cake layers, the combination of flavors is perfection. We've also used Kahlua in another favorite cake recipe- Our Tiramisu Cake!

Can i use kahlua instead of vanilla?

For the cake layers, I used my favourite vanilla cake recipe, except I used Kahlua instead of vanilla. You can use any coffee liqueur you like though, or stick with vanilla in the cake batter since there’s Kahlua in both the coffee soak (don’t skip this!) and the mocha buttercream.
