The base of our Dalia upma is the broken wheat. In Hindi, it is दलिया, and in Gujarati, it is ફાડા ઘઉં. This way, broken wheat makes a healthy base to this recipe. That’s the primary reason why this upma is termed as healthy.
A chutney or pickle or sambar or pappu podi goes well. If you prefer to make dalia recipe without vegetables, you can use peanuts, 1 tsp. each of channa dal and urad dal and add at step 2. Fry till golden. Continue with step 3 i have not used tomato if you wish, you can add chopped tomato before step 3 and fry till the tomatoes turn fully mushy.
