Commercial char siu sauce often includes red food coloring, which leaves a red tinge on the surface of the meat. Add a few drops of red food coloring if you like. Use char siu sauce on all types of pork and poultry toward the last 5 to 15 minutes of cook time, depending on the size and cut of meat.
I made a batch of my cauliflower rice recipe to serve with this char siu Chinese BBQ pork. Although pre-shredded cauliflower is easier, I like to just shred a head of organic cauliflower and cook it for five minutes in the microwave.
