Welcome to my world. A place where German recipes rule! Easily made and enjoyed by all! At Just like Oma Gerhild, I’ve re-created those traditional German foods that you recall your Oma making by using easily available ingredients and new methods that don’t take hours. Quick and easy, that’s my motto. Wunderbar food, that’s the result.
These German-inspired recipes will take you back to Oma's kitchen. My husband’s German family calls this Oma’s apfelkuchen, which translates to “Grandma’s apple cake.” They’ve been sharing the recipe for more than 150 years. I use Granny Smith apples, but any variety works. —Amy Kirchen, Loveland, Ohio
From creamy cucumber-dill salad in the summer, to soup in the winter, to special desserts year round, her recipes reflect years of tradition and a grandmother's love. These German recipes come from our community's own Omas and include classics like red cabbage, potato salad, Rouladen, Sauerbraten, dumplings, cookies, and cakes.
