Add soaked chana dal with salt and turmeric and cook it for 30 minutes. Now separate daal stock and daal. In a pan, 1 cup oil, add garam masala (green chillis, cumin, cinnamon, and cloves) and fry it for 6 seconds then add sliced onion and fry it for 5 mins on low flame.
