There are 3 ways to bake calico beans: the oven, the slow cooker and the stovetop. We’ll talk about that in a minute, but you’ll prepare the beans the same no matter which method you choose. In a skillet over medium high heat, brown the ground beef along with the bacon and onion. Cook and stir until the beef and bacon are fully cooked.
Preheat oven to 325°. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, 5-7 minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients. Transfer to a greased 2-qt. cast-iron pan or baking dish. Bake, uncovered, until the beans are as thick as desired, 45-60 minutes.

Combine onion, ketchup, salt, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar, and partly drain beans in a 3 quart oven container. Mix well. Add hamburger and crumbled bacon.
