Low Carb / Keto Muddy Buddies are is just as simple to make as the traditional recipe and takes just minutes to make. A great treat for traveling, low carb or keto kids, lunchboxes, a movie snack, holiday gifts…the possibilities are endless!
I can't think of a more popular party snack than Muddy Buddies (Puppy Chow), made with Chex cereal coated in a chocolate, peanut butter and powdered powdered sugar. Measure cereal into a large bowl. Set aside. Divide powdered sugar between two ziplock bags, adding 1 cup to each bag.* Set aside.
After inquiring further, I found out that puppy chow and muddy buddies were exactly the same things- Chex cereal tossed in melted chocolate and peanut butter, then doused in powdered sugar! Granted, none of those ingredients scream healthy or even diet-friendly. Although vegan and gluten-free, it wasn’t nut-free, low carb or keto-friendly.
My favorite pork rinds to use in these low carb Muddy Buddies are the Epic Himalayan Pink Salt Oven Baked Pork Rinds. I like these pork rinds for all of my recipes because they have a great neutral flavor, but I also love Epic’s “nose to tail” commitment.
