While this recipe is super simple, I am including a couple tips and tricks to help you get delicious perfectly cooked Carne Asada every single time! Marinate for at least 5 hours and up to 1 day. Heat grill to medium high. Lightly oil grill grates. Grill 3 minutes per side, then flip. Let carne asada rest for at least 10 minutes after grilling.

That being said, all of the carne asada recipes have key ingredients that make the steak so tender and flavorful: citrus, spices and oil. Citrus juices and tamari sauce tenderize and bring out a deep rich flavor in the meat. A spice blend of ground cumin, garlic powder, salt and crushed red pepper flakes season the steak to perfection.
Don’t over-marinate. The carne asada marinade is highly acidic which means you don’t want to marinate the steak as long as you would in a marinade without as much citrus. Don’t marinate much longer than 12 hours or the muscle fibers can break down and become mushy.
