They've been a local favorite for more than 200 years, and a handful of area bakeries roll out their own takes on the delicate dessert, with flavors ranging from traditional ginger to blood orange.
Although Moravians settled in Pennsylvania, a contingent traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in the 1700s. This recipe was shared by Andra Cook of Raleigh, NC. Andra says that this make a large amount of cookies.
