Hack these Marco’s Pizza Bowls to make them keto! While 13g up to 17g of net carbs is pretty hefty, compared to traditional pizza, it’s still a great low-carb option. If you want to really bring the carbs down even lower, though, ask for it without the pizza sauce! I do this and get extra cheese instead and I really don’t miss the sauce.
Customers on high-protein, low-carb diets can skip the crust and still get the pizza flavors they love with the new Specialty Pizza Bowls from Toledo-based Marco’s Pizza. Marco’s says it’s “the first national pizza delivery brand” to offer this crustless variation on a pizza. It debuted on March 9 as a permanent part of the chain’s menu.
Bell Pepper: The original Marco’s pizza bowl uses green bell pepper. Pizza Sauce: Use your favorite store-bought or homemade pizza sauce. Pepperoni Slices: Use your favorite pepperoni here (note: mini-pepperoni for smaller ramekins). Shredded Cheese: A three-cheese blend including cheddar and mozzarella is ideal.
Step 1: Brown sausage or other meat if using. Step 2: To assemble pizza bowls, layer sauce… Step 3: Then toppings… Step 4: Then cheese! Step 5: Repeat if you dare!!!! I like doing two big layers. Make sure you end with the cheese layer! Step 6: Bake at 400 degrees to 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and a little browned.
